Tell us, what could be more chic than popping open a glass bottle of sparkling water while turning the pages of a glossy magazine?
Absolutely, nothing.
As we celebrate releasing the first issue of Lorraine and Friends, we also celebrate the ways in which we live, meshing together the old and the new, navigating our own roots and branches. That’s why this Autumn, we’re changing the rules of the game. We no longer accept reading about the same people and the same stories over and over again. It’s boring and dull, and our time is too precious to waste. We no longer accept others telling us about ourselves: what we like, what we do not like, how we should act, or how we should look. Our lives in their entirety are not comprised solely of struggle and oppression, contrary to what some might want to think. And perhaps most importantly, we no longer accept inauthenticity.
Lorraine and Friends is all about being your most authentic self at any given moment. What you like is what you like, and what you’re interested in is what you’re interested in. Stereotypes are inconvenient and sap the fun out of everything. You won’t find those here.
So, as you relax and flip through this first issue, I want you to remember all of those times when the other kids made fun of you for the way your packed lunch smelled at school, or the way your mom did your hair, or even the way you covered it. I want you to remember those times, and know that YOUR TIME to rewrite the rules has now come. In any case, we wish you happy reading as you live your best unbothered life, spices included.
